Accommodations
Tuningi Safari Lodge offers 4 Luxury Suites and 2 Family Suites, each with a private wrap-around deck and plunge pool. Each suite has hardwood floors, a fireplace, a lounge, a dining area, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and an outdoor shower. The Family Suites consist of two en-suite double bedrooms joined by a living room with an expansive timber deck and plunge pool.
Dining & Bars
The lodge's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with dinners often held outside around a camp fire during boma evenings. A dedicated wine room provides a selection of South African wines, and the bar offers drinks alongside themed dinner nights. Guests can enjoy a kid-friendly buffet, special diet menus, and fruits, with meals chosen daily from a menu.
Spa & Wellness
The spa and wellness centre offers body treatments, full body massage, back massage, foot massage, neck massage, manicure, pedicure, and spa/wellness packages. Two outdoor swimming pools include an infinity pool with a pool bar and a pool with a view, both open all year with shallow ends and sun loungers. A fitness centre is available on-site, and guests can also use the spa facilities and beauty services.
Family & Activities
Children from the age of six are welcome, with a kids' club, an indoor play area, board games, puzzles, and babysitting/child services available. Game drives twice daily are led by knowledgeable rangers such as Gavin, Marcel, Andrew, and Ashley, with sightings of the Big Five and wild dogs reported. The hide at the watering hole allows guests to observe wildlife between drives, including elephants and other animals.
Location & Reserve
The lodge is set within the 75,000-hectare malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, accessible via a short one-hour flight from Johannesburg followed by a free shuttle from the Madikwe Western Airstrip. The main thatched lodge offers indoor and outdoor lounges and a rim flow pool that overlooks a waterhole, providing views of giraffe, elephants, zebra, and baboons. Additional amenities include an outdoor fireplace, sun terrace, accessible parking, 24-hour security, and a safety deposit box.
